In my humble opinion, the Flite Test Bloody Wonder is one of the best RC models ever created. Not because it is super flashy, or aerobatic, or has many features, but because it offers the best fun-per-dollar of anything out there.

For those who don’t know the Bloody Wonder was designed by Josh Bixler after getting inspiration from the Sig Wonder and the Funbat. The Bloody Wonder was really only intended to be a copy of the Funbat design but with a folded wing and to make use of their “swappable” power pod, which was popular at the time.

The Bloody Wonder works so well because you’ve got a one-piece design that uses the cheapest of materials and hardware. It’s small enough to chuck on the back seat of the car and nimble enough to be flown in a relatively small area.

I’ve build quite a few of these over the years, and there’s a whole heap of articles that I did over on the Flite Test website as well as videos on YouTube. From the original heavy foam board model, through some questionable FPV experiments, to one of my favourites – the twin engined Bloody Racer!

Different contributors to the Flite Test archives have made even more modifications. symmetrical wings, plank wings, mini versions, 200% scale versions. There’s even been a few spin-offs like the Bloody Baron and Ugly Wonder!

I’d like to see what else I can do with the Bloody Wonder design. So in the coming weeks (months/years/you know what I’m like!), I’m going to play around with the Bloody Wonder design. First though I think I’ll do another bloody racer so I have something to fly at lunchtime on training days…
